Error when trying to change primary target and TOC

Post by ChoccieMuffin »

I have some strange behaviour, probably caused by something stupid I've done, and I hope someone can explain what I need to do to fix it.

I am producing two different PDFs (and eventually a webhelp) from the same source.

To check whether changes I've made to styles in one PDF, with a separate stylesheet, I want to swap between the two PDF targets and TOCs. The easiest way to do this, I HAD found, was to change the primary target and Master TOCs, but recently whenever I change the TOC I get the "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. Once or twice I've even had the alarming response in the UI where I've had TWO Targets labelled as "Primary" in the Project Organizer.

When I try to do it again on the one I want to be master, the "Make Master TOC" option in the right-click menu is disabled.

When this happens (i.e. every time I change the TOC Master) I quit the application and restart, and then the correct TOC is shown as Master, but it's tedious to have to restart the app every time as it does take a while to load.

I've also noticed that in Project Organizer, previously the Master TOC and Primary Target were highlighted in bold, but not any more. I suspect this is somehow connected.

Any suggestions?

I swear there's a little man inside my laptop, and he was reading what I typed - reckon he got scared and took the spanner out of where he'd put it.

For some unexplained reason (and I haven't even closed Flare since I posted the last time) my interface is back to working fine, complete with bold and a distinct lack of any "object" error messages. I'd had this annoyance for several weeks but the mere act of posting on the forum has fixed it without me doing anything else - how bizarre! :D
