I'm working with a team that would like me to provide HTML files to build a QT help system. (Info on building QT help: http://doc.qt.nokia.com/4.6/qthelp-fram ... ng-qt-help)
I would write the topics in Flare, but I don't think I'd be able to maintain the index, TOC, or context help there--or at least, not dynamically.
I'm going to investigate whether I can get Flare markup to talk to the QT help framework. I would love suggestions.
Thanks,
Kristi
From Flare to QT help
Re: From Flare to QT help
Hi there
I'd be very interested to hear how you get on. I'd asked MadCap about QT help ages ago, but I don't know if they are working on it.
I'll chase this up.
Thanks
Suze

Re: From Flare to QT help
I was told there are no plans to add a QT output. MadCap pointed out that the mobile help may be the easiest to convert to QT help, since it is so stripped down. Right now, our assumption is that we'll be able to use an XSL transform to convert the navigation and linking and build QT help from the WebHelp output. We're not tackling yet, though. I will post an update when we get further along.

Re: From Flare to QT help
We just did something similar for a project. The application is in QT Framework. I gave the software developer CHM and mobile builds. Here's what he did:
This is the reference I gave to the developer. http://doc.trolltech.com/qq/qq08-helpclient.htmlI maintained an internal map in code whereas help html pages are mapped to screen pointers(helpIds).
So whenever user clicks a button, appropriate help page is launched by invoking hh.exe.
e.g.
when user clicks help button on status screen
I invoke hh.exe ms-its:../help/DSDD_Help.chm::Basics/Status_screen.htm.
Re: From Flare to QT help
Hmm, did you provide the .chm in order to provide the header/alias, and the mobile help to actually be loaded?
I'm trying to work out why you provided both.
Did you only have context-sensitive help--was there not a place where you displayed a full toc?
