Tranforming an XLS file into TBX

Hello everybody,

I'm a Tech Writer, currently analysing the possibility of using Flare and Lingo for the Documentation and Translation Teams here where I work.

There are two big glossaries used by the Translation Team: one is Portuguese-English and the other is Portuguese-Spanish. They are in the XLS format. We want to reuse this content in Lingo, in the TermBase, and as far as we know by reading the help it's only possible with TMX files. We have researched a little about it, and the Technology Team would be responsible for the convertion, but before we ask them to study this, we'd like to know:

Does any of you have any experience with converting XLS into TBX files? How was that? Any tips?

Thank you so much,

I'm doing the same thing. I have written an xsl stylesheet with a for-each loop that generates a tbx file from a Word .docx table. I open the Word file and apply the xsl transformation in Oxygen. I found this approach easier than trying to unravel the Excel .xlsx format. One problem I am having however is that although the tbx file is generated OK, some entries will not import into Lingo and crash the entire import procedure. At first glance these seem to be multi-sentence terms with a lot of punctuation. Can anyone give me any tips?
