My company uses a network/server/shared drive to store all employee files and backup. When I work from home over our VPN i can't work on project files directly from the shared drive because it runs too slowly, so I have taken to downloading the project from the server onto my computer, working on the files from there, and then copying the entire project file from my computer and pasting it over the project file on the shared drive. The problem is (and unfortunately I didn't notice this until I lost a days worth of work) that the updates don't copy to the server version of the project for some reason. When prompted I tell the computer to overwrite the existing files that are the same with the new ones being copied over, and the copy finishes without any error messages or anything. However, when I open the project from the shared drive, the version does not have any of the changes that were made on the local version. So, no matter how many times I copy and paste the new version over the old one, I still have two different copies of the project.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Re: Copying/pasting project files
it sounds like a network issue. when i work on my flare projects, i always put the "active" version on my local hard drive and then back up to the network drive every night. i just copy my folder over to the network, replacing the files that are already there. i haven't had a problem so far with this setup.

Re: Copying/pasting project files
Well, I've tried doing the same thing with other program files and I haven't had the same problem, so I don't know why its only effecting my flare files.

Grasping at straws...
Are all the files you take from work and then back to work affected?
Are the affected files read only?
Is there some form of content management system at play?

Re: Copying/pasting project files
Not all the files are different between the two versions, but I have been just copying and pasting the entire folder from my computer to the server.
And I'm pretty sure none of the files are Read-Only, unless there is some sort of default that I don't know about...
And I'm not really sure what you mean by content management system, I'm kinda new at this job

Re: Copying/pasting project files
... to check if the files are read only, right click one of the affected files in WEindows Explorer and select Properties from the context menu. On the general tab there is a check box for read-only.

No source control and the files aren't read only. I'm currently emailing back and forth with support so hopefully they can give me an answer!
If worse comes to worst I could probably just delete the folder from the server and replace it with the local version, but for some reason that makes me nervous...
