No 100% match found?

Post by Eric Lachance »

I'm not sure if I did something wrong here...
I installed a TM database, loaded my TMX into it, selected the correct languages, and tried to get the statistics. But here's what the result looks like:

Code: Select all

Match Types Segments Words
Duplicates 187 1706
Translated 0 0
100% 0 0
95% - 99% 0 0
85% - 94% 0 0
75% - 84% 0 0
50% - 74% 0 0
No Match 7206 96933
Total 7393 98639
At the very least, I should be getting a few thousand perfect matches (100%) and a very large number of fuzzies, as we've submitted the project and the same TMX with a translator and did get some. I was just double-checking their numbers, but this makes no sense.

Any ideas?

Are the totals the same as the results you've had back from the translator?

That aren't exactly the same, but they're within a reasonable margin, no more than a hundred.

I rechecked the quote they sent me - there should ve over 18,000 perfect matches.

I'm just guessing here, as I don't have Lingo (but have done localisation work). Is there an option in Lingo to turn off matches when doing a wordcount? I know other localisation tools have that option so it's possible you've changed that setting, possibly without realising. Anyone with Lingo should be able to point you in the right direction for the relevant setting.

Well, the only thing I ever did in Lingo was to create projects, it's the first time I do statistics (I hadn't installed a TM before) and I never went into the settings or preferences.

So, I doubt that would be it, unless someone can tell me where such an option would be...

Eric,
If you click Translate > Export TMX
Which languages are listed in the "Languages to export:" list?
Are these the exact same languages you chose when creating the new project?

Lingo is very picky in this regard and you have to choose the specific language.
"English" is not the same as "English (United States)".

That's it!

Thanks Rob, that's exactly it. It was the source language that was indicated as English (United States) and not just English. And now, it's been "working" on my first file for a few minutes, which seems to indicate to me that it's working fine now (considering my TM database is on a virtual machine).

Cheers to you Rob!
