Using Flare V6 I added an output target to be a Word document.
I click to build this new target and get the error:
"Internal error: Microsoft Word 2003 or newer with the latest service pack is required for this feature."
I have Office 2010 installed so I'm not sure why I would get such an error.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Word output from Flare V6
Re: Word output from Flare V6
Two possibilities come to mind... First, Flare v6 came out before Office 2010, I think, so perhaps it simply doesn't recognize Office 2010 yet. You'd have to ask MadCap Support about that.
Second... Perhaps you installed Office 2010 after Flare v6. Maybe Flare needs to be installed after Office so that it picks up that there's a later version of Office available. That one would be fairly easy to check, as you can just reinstall Flare.

Thanks for the reply. I opened a case with MadCap support but haven't heard back from them yet. I may try the reinstall in the mean time.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Reinstalling didn't have any effect on the issue. Will have to wait and see if MadCap support can shed some light.

For what it's worth, I can run that combination OK - I have Office 2010 with Flare 6.1 - on a Windows 7 machine. I would have installed Office before I put Flare on the machine.

MadCap support was able to reproduce my issue and they're passing it along to dev.
It seems the issue is running Office 2010 on XP and trying to publish to Word.

Re: Word output from Flare V6
I have XP and recently upgraded to Office 2010 (from 2007). I haven't seen that error... I can create the file. But when I open it, it's 3000+ pages long (should be about 76 pages on this one). By chance, I looked at the header in the Word file and it was huge -- shrank it down to .1" and everything resolved... but I never had this issue before and I did check my settings, definitely didn't have gigantic headers! So strange. Anyone else see anything like this?

Any more news on this issue?
I'm running Flare 5.0.1 on Win 7 (64bit) and get the same error when I try to generate Word output - I have Word 2010 installed.

Re: Word output from Flare V6
Here is the reply from MadCap support - this fixed my particular issue:
"We have noticed that when if you upgrade from an older version of Word to 2010, the problem occurs (strangely, not in all computer, only in some. It seems that doing this a registry does not get registered with the correct version.) However, if you unistall the older version and then install 2010 (or uninstall/reinstall Office,) there is no problem."
