Error during Framemaker import caused by PDF file creation

Hello there,
we are importing a Framemaker book into Flare. On one computer (Flare V5, Acrobat 9) the import works fine. On another computer (Flare V6, Acrobat 8) Flare shows error messages "A PDF file is taking a long time to create. Do you want to abort the operation?". Irrespective of the answer (Yes or No), the same message appears over and over again. With each message the import process pauses so someone would have to sit in front of the computer for half an hour answering the message box. (Actually we cancelled befort testing the outcome.)

What can we do? Any suggestions?

I would try reinstalling Acrobat. I've run into problems in the past where FrameMaker was installed after Acrobat, and Flare gets confused between the PDF Maker tool installed with FM and the full version of Acrobat. Reinstalling Acrobat has solved the problem.
