Hello Flare,
We have translated our Framemaker book files into Chinese (Japanese, French too) and are wondering how to create Webhelp from the Chinese (simplified) .fm files. I had a process I used (from Frame>Open New Flare project and working with stylesheets, etc.) but it's not working - the filenames look funny and the character set doesn't look like what the source files (Frame) looked like. Ideas? We are using Flare 3.1 but it's OK if we need to upgrade. Just let me know how and the best process to use.
Thanks!
Importing from Frame book (in Simplified Chinese) to Fl 3.1

Re: Importing from Frame book (in Simplified Chinese) to Fl 3.1
I raised an issue about this a couple of years ago. I managed to track down what I submitted (this was Flare 4.0):
Cheers
Greg
The response from Madcap was:I have tried, unsuccessfully, to import Chinese from FrameMaker 8. All I get is funny characters in Flare (attached an example). I've tried using the original SimSun and SimHei fonts, and also Arial Unicode, with no success. My PC is Windows 2000, and I've set the system locale to Chinese. I'm pretty much out of ideas, and am actually wondering if Flare does not support what I'm trying to do.
I think this was addressed in the next patch update (v4.1), so should be working with the most recent versions. The only issue I had (and this was with older versions) was getting images to generate correctly (i.e. anchored frames with Chinese text).Thank you for contacting MadCap Support. Unfortunately, Flare does not support the import of Chinese files from FM into Flare. I have submitted this issue as a feature suggestion, the current bug number is: 24214. Hopefully, this issue will be addressed in the next version of Flare.
Cheers
