Local versus Remote links

Post by Craig.Prichard »

I want to have all local file links display green and all non-local links display in the default blue.

Code: Select all

a:link {color: #60C460;} /* Local links */
a[href^="http:"] {color: #0000ff;} /* Remote links */
My problem is that the presence of

Code: Select all

a[href^="http:"]
in my CSS causes my breadcrumbsProxy to render at the wrong top location. If I comment out

Code: Select all

a[href^="http:"]
I lose my blue remote links but the breadcrumbsProxy renders where I expect. What's a weak CSSer to do?

Have you tried setting the link colours for the breadcrumbs (using the stylesheet editor ) back to the colour you want?

Steve, I don't think the breadcrumbs' link colours have any bearing on the placement of the proxy on the web page. However, I did try. There was no improvement. It seems that Flare has a problem with: a[href^="http:"]. What bugs me is that I got this code from Scott Deloach's "Developing Stylesheets for Online Help" presentation PDF so I know that it should work.

Further details might help. My CSS also includes:

Code: Select all

body {margin-top: 66px;}
div.non-scrolling {top: 0px; margin-top: 22px}
MadCap|breadcrumbsProxy {top: 0px;}
so that my topic header is always visible regardless of the vertical length of the content.

If I add that line to my stylesheet, the build reports an error: Invalid token (^)
