Can Flare be used to make a PDF with Destinations so that context-sensitive help is working?
I did this with FrameMaker, using TimeSavers to preserve the help ID markers that I inserted in the Frame doc, since otherwise Acrobat renames (and renders useless) any help ID markers coming from Frame. When someone clicked Help in our software, the software called the help ID markers in the PDF, and this enabled context-sensitive help in a PDF user guide. It worked well, and meant that we did not have a separate set of help files.
Thanks for any comments.
best,
Paul
Using Flare to make PDF with destinations intact
Re: Using Flare to make PDF with destinations intact
It's been a long time since this post was created. We're in a position where we need to convert FrameMaker books that use Timesaver for PDFs over to Flare. Does anyone know if there's a way to preserve the settings (anchors/bookmarks) from FrameMaker and have the same functionality in PDFs generated by Flare?
Basically, they generate PDFs from FrameMaker using TimeSavers and the developers use the anchors to link to the location in the PDF from within the application.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated. There are thousands of these types of links and I'm hoping we can find a replacement until we can figure out our long-term solution.
