Multiple output problems

Post by BedfordWriter »

Using Mimic 4.0, I'm seeing a bunch of output problems and I'm not happy about it.
My project so far has 3 sections: one single-frame movie which is a menu and two movies linked to from the menu.
The menu has an image, 2 command buttons and 13 rectangles with roll-over captions.

If I output to Flash I see the following problems:
* Neither of the command buttons show up in the menu movie. Only 12 of the roll-overs will show up. Nothing more added to the frame will show.
* I can copy the command buttons to a new movie in the project, and they will show. No changes were made to the properties.
* In the sub-movies, navigation is inconsistent between frames on first run-through. It will simply stop. If I back up a few frames and start forward again, it will work.

If I output to Silverlight:
* All of the above problems go away. They seem to be specific to the Flash output.
* But, one frame in one of the secondary movies contains a short animation (12 frames long). Silverlight hangs while trying to load it.

I'm starting to wonder why I didn't just buy Flash. Does anyone have an answer for why the above it happening and how to fix it?

No answers except to say, for what it's worth, I certainly empathize with your troubles, particularly as regards the Flash and Silverlight outputs. I like Flare, and since version 2 (the license we purchased), I've been pulling for Mimic to work out its general bugginess so that I can sell our company on purchasing a couple of new licenses with, more importantly, maintenance agreement (management chose not to purchase a maintenance agreement the first time around, perhaps sensing my fading enthusiasm for the product). We've yet to use the product for real; however, with a trial download of version 5 and renewed hope, I've been trying to put together a fresh prototype project to trot out for management, but once again, I don't like the feeling I'm getting.

Best of luck to you.
