Hi folks,
Our Word doc has hundreds of footnotes, and most of the footnotes contain hyperlinks (to external web resources).
When I output from Flare to WebHelp, the footnotes have their usual pop-up look, but the hyperlinks do not appear.
Is there any way I can save these hyperlinks?
Cheers,
Kevin

Re: hyperlinks within footnotes
I just tried this and it looks like the links are being stripped out during the build when the style is a footnote - bug reports here:

A possible workaround till it gets fixed might be to do a find/replace (in the code) and change the Madcap|footnotes to pop-ups - the links will work there, but you won't get the footnote numbers - may not be an issue for online.

Thanks for that!
I've contacted support, and they've admitted that links won't work in footnotes. Then, they suggested some other way of doing it that would only work if the footnotes allowed links...which they do not. Very strange.
I will open a bug report, and will try what you suggest.
Has anyone had any luck with the Endnotes Proxy feature? I wonder if that would work, but I can't seem to sort it out.

I don't use endnotes, but I thought the proxy was for printed output, not the generated webhelp. I just did a quick test converting Word footnotes to endnotes and then importing, but that has the same problem as the original Word footnotes.kmcgowan wrote:...Has anyone had any luck with the Endnotes Proxy feature? Re: hyperlinks within footnotes
I have the same problem, so it isn't fixed in 8.1. In addition, the document I am converting from Word to WebHelp has a lot of subscripts, and those are stripped out of footnotes when displayed as well. I submitted a bug report, but would really like to resolve this. Is there another way to display the footnotes so that they retain formatting and hyperlinks?

Re: hyperlinks within footnotes
I found that I can create a pop-up with the footnote content and then replace the footnote entirely. Then, after creating the pop-up, I open the topic in the HTML editor and add an a href to the hyperlinks.
