Problem creating SQL-Database

Post by Pannonian »

Hi there

Our company just bought the complete bundle of madcap-software, and when i was trying to initiate the database i get a lot of strange errors. I try to connect on a databaseserver, but i always get the message that lingo cannot connect to the database. If i use telnet on the same OS, it's no problem connecting to the database, i can also ping it, but Lingo refuses to connect to the database, saying "Failed to connect to the Translation Memory lingo:DB-VM-SQL2005/documentation?user=****;password=****.

Any ideas?

After installing another sql-server with standard settings, everything works, except for our system admin who's a bit enraged by now...

Which SQL version is that? The older ones had TCP/IP for remote connections disabled by default. I spent way too much time trying to figure out what stuff doesn't work because of that.

SQL2005 - we tested the tcp/ip for remote connections via telnet, and everything worked, so it can't be because of that.
