Hi,
I need the following info on creatring online help for mobiles.
• Is there any difference between a help created for a product/application to be installed on desktops or a web-based application, and help created for applications to be installed on mobile devices?
• Output formats
• Any limitation on file size of the help output format
• Any specific information that should be gathered at the requirement understanding stage, questions that can be asked to the client or the technical team
• How does the frame change for various phones such as iphone, blackberry, nokia, etc.

You can generate two different web-based outputs (i.e. that you can view in a browser):
WebHelp and
WebHelp Mobile.
You can generate either help from the same project.
An example of WebHelp is the online version of Flare's help:

WebHelp Mobile looks reasonably similar to the help on Apple products. There's more info on WebHelp Mobile here, and you can see some screenshots (in the
Example).

WebHelp Mobile will detect the browser being used and display the help in a
basic or
advanced view. I think the main difference is that the basic view doesn't appear to use javascript. This means that in the basic view, you don't get things like the search box, and drop-downs are expanded.
As for using it on different phones, the help will just scale to fit the screen size of the phone, and its features (basic/advanced) will depend on the phone's browser. You'd have to contact MadCap to ask which models they've tested it on; I
think that older Blackberry models use the basic view.
I'd suggest downloading the free trial of Flare; then you can generate and try out the different formats yourself.

There's not much information online:

At this time, all Blackberry devices will use the Basic version due to limitations within the BlackBerry browser. Devices based on iPhone OS, Android OS, Windows Mobile 6 (or later), and Palm Web OS will use the Advanced version.
