X-Edit Licensing policy - What is it?

Post by Matt O »

'Morning All

I'm the main tech-author / info content manager using Flare to manage a series of projects. I have SME content contributors, I have templates for the SME contributors to use, I'd like the SME contributors to use the templates using X-Edit. I have a copy of X-Edit and notice when installing X-Edit on my machine there was a config option to the effect of 'All users' / 'Just me' as user.

I'm looking for information on the licensing policy of X-Edit. I've trawled this forum and have searched the X-Edit help but there is no information.

Question What is the user licence policy for X-Edit?

Can I distribute the X-Edit application to all my contributors?

What do X-Edit forum users do on this matter.

Thanks in advance for your time and experience.

Regards

There is a free version of x-edit called X-Edit Review. the paid version of X-Edit allows content creation.
Here's the information from the mapcap website - http://www.madcapsoftware.com/products/ ... rview.aspx
MadCap Sales would be able to help you with licensing information.

in my experience, x-edit review was too complicated to give to my reviewers. it is easier for me to just print them a word version of the help so they can edit it there.

Thanks Laura,

However, I still don't know whether i can distribute my licenced copy of Full X-Edit to multiple content contributors. The link to the MadCap X-Edit page does not answer this either. What do other members of this Forum do?

I shall be contacting MadCap and if i get a response i'll post it.

Have a good day all.

Rgds

Does anybody know if the licensing policy stays the same for Contributor?
