How to open Flare's help outside the Flare IDE ?

Sorry if this is a dumb Q....

I need ALL the flare screen for my flare project.

When I open Flare help, it opens within the Flare frame.

How can I move it/undock it so it opens externally? (like a chm would) ?

I have three screens, and need to get the help on the side!

(As it is now, I use the Flare web help at madcapsoftware.com, but that help is now for Flare v7 and I use 6.1)

You can launch it separately from the Flare program folder. I have a shortcut on my desktop to the DotNet version of the file (you need the Help Viewer installed), so it's a separate window that I can drag around. Or you can open the WebHelp version of the help in a new browser window -- I usually go to MadCap's website for that.

Default path to DotNet version: C:\Program Files\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V7\Flare.app\Resources\Flare.mchelpf\Manual.mchelp

Another option would be to right-click on a help topic that shows up in the Flare topic editor and select "Float". then you can move the window to a new screen.

I don't think you can float it outside the GUI -- it's still restrained by the size of the Flare GUI window and I think the original post was to have it outside the GUI.

Maybe it's different with the help, but i have been floating my TOC and Stylesheet to a different screen for a while. i like having a bigger viewing area for my topics sometimes.

but, opening the webhelp in a browser is a good idea too. i'll have to bookmark that for when i need it.

You can still access V6 webhelp. Just change the version in the URL.

I just tried it with the help search pane and it can be floated to outside the Flare GUI. I guess I was thinking it was constrained to the perimeter of the GUI. And now that I've done it I think I remember doing that when the floating capabilities were first added but just never used it and therefore forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder, Laura.
