Glossary deleted but get error when compile

Post by Cecily »

I have Flare v6 and have deleted the glossary of a project, and checked the following:
* Project > Skin > General > Unticked Glossary
* Project > Target > Glossary > checked that no glossary is listed

But when I try to compile, I get this error:

Internal error: Failed to load glossary file C:\....<the path and name of the deleted glossary>.flgo [Unable to find the specified file.]

I have successfully deleted the glossary from two other projects (I'm making all three children of another project, and that one now contains the glossary).

I have also closed and reopened the project and checked it in and out of source control, but I still get the error.

I can force it to compile by copying a glossary of the original name into the project, but that is too much of a fudge (and also means that if I do a Search in the compiled parent project, if finds entries in two glossaries).

Obviously something in Flare is still looking for it; any ideas what I need to switch off or delete?

Thanks.

Hmm, it would be worth looking at Skins and Target in the internal text editor to see if it's still lurking in there. I've had this happen if I delete something, say update links but something goes wrong and thus the Target appears to no longer reference it, yet, when probed, it's still looking for it.

Thanks, Helen. I rarely use the internal text editor, and when I have, it's only been for htm topic files.

However, I've just looked at the skin and the target, and the latter has a reference to the glossary, which I will remove. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully that will do the trick. :)

It gave me a better botch, so thanks!

In the child project, I opened the target in the text editor and removed the glossary reference. I also took the glossary back out of the project. It compiled without problems.

However, I then got the error in the parent project (looking for the glossary in that specific child project, but not the other two)!

So I've put an empty glossary in the child project and the parent project compiles. Because the child glossary is empty, I avoid the problem of a search finding two glossary entries.

All a bit annoying, but the end result is good. Many thanks.
