I'm searching throughout the Flare forum for anyone else's topic re: how working with both editing tools can be problematic with Flare 7, to no avail. Anyway, I've been using the text editor with the wysiwyg on the same .htm file; saving in one tool before opening the same topic in the other, to take advantage of certain utility in one or the other editing tool. Now it seems, in Flare 7, this technique gets weird/messy.
An e.g.: I open the subject topic .htm in the text editor, edit/save, then open the same .htm in the wysiwyg editor. After tweaking a few things with that tool, my attempt to then save the topic produces an error message, denying me write permission to save this file in the wysiwyg editor. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix/workaround in the works?
I realize this MO might strike some people as a little odd, i.e., using both editors, but I've played with markup languages in text editors for years prior to discovering Flare ver 3.1; there are real advantages not being stuck just using the wysiwyg only.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
cheers,
Daniel

It seems like I've done this before, but not the order you do it in. That is, I have both views open but I make the change in the Internal Text Editor, save it in that view, then go to the WYSIWYG view and press F5 to refresh. I don't think you can make a change in the WYSIWYG editor while the Internal Text Editor has the topic open because that view is a text view and not an on-the-fly compiler-ish view, if that makes sense. If I want to switch back to modifying the WYSIWYG view then I close the topic in the Internal Text Editor.
I have put in a feature request before asking for a split view like Dreamweaver has (like you, I'm used to switching back and forth a lot). Make sure you add your vote for that by submitting a feature request at http://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx.

Hi, Lisa; thanks for responding. :-]LTinker68 wrote:It seems like I've done this before, but not the order you do it in. What seems to be different now is, I could work bilaterally or interchangeably before; it didn't seem to matter which editor I used first to open a given .htm. At least, before I wasn't getting clobbered with this error messaging, potentially losing my edits if I didn't answer "NO" to the dialog. One thing though; if double-clicking the file to open, the default editor has always been the wysiwyg (it would be really cool to be able to have custom control over that behavior, btw). Anyway, I will follow the link you gave and submit my .02 cents to this, thanks (though I think having the tabbed views to flip between the two editing environments would work better for me).
Thanks & cheers, =dg=
