Automatically Incrementing Variable?

Is it possible to have an automatic incrementing variable which gets incremented each time the project is either built or published?
Id like to use this as a document revision number (build number) so that I can more easily differentiate versions without each time having to manually update a variable.

There are some ways to get a build number in there post-build, but they are "hackarounds" rather than Flare-based solutions.
