Change PDF Index Formatting?

Post by ryan »

In PDF output, index appears as a single column, with entries on the left and page numbers on the right.

is there a way to have the index mimic the default setting in Word -- where the entries are separated from the page numbers by a comma and a space?

Thanks

I posed this question a while back to Flare tech support, and here is their response. It is a bit of a workaround, but it is closer to what I wanted. (FYI this is for version 6.1; I don't know if any improvements have been implemented in version 7.)
We can get you close, but not all the way there (Comma as the separator).
Open your style sheet in advanced view and locate p.Index1.
Locate mc-leader-offset and set it to "1" and close the style sheet editor.
Open your style sheet in the Internal Text Editor (This can be done by right clicking on it and choosing "open with").
Scroll down and locate the style p.Index1.
Replace whats there with this:
p.Index1
{
mc-leader-offset: 'auto';
mc-leader-align: left;
}
If your index has several levels, you will need to repeat this for each level.

I tried this in 7.2, and it worked, sort of. I got the page numbers next to the entries, separated by about 1/4 inch. No comma.
