Variables and Capitalization

I think I know the answer to this but I thought I would make a "shout out" to my trusted Flare Help Community for confirmation...

I am using variables in my content and have found that there are times I use the same variable at the beginning of a sentence, or in a header, or somewhrere in the middle of a sentence... It isn't really appropriate for me to capitalize the first letter of this variable all the time...

Do I need to create two variables for the same "thing" in order to accommodate for these scenarios? One variable having first letter capitalized, another variable that is all lower case?

I did just find something that may be of interest...if you are overriding project variables with target variables, you many need to develop a naming convention so the target variable can keep the variable beginning with uppercase letter straight from the variable beginning with the lowercase letter...

When variables are set up as follows, the target variable can't seem to hold onto the lowercase first letter and will continuously default to uppercase:
Variable Name: Animal / Variable Definition: Puppy
Variable Name: animal / Variable Definition: puppy
Variable Name: Animals / Variable Definition: Puppies
Variable Name: animals / Variable Definition: puppies

When I assigned the following naming convention, the target seems to be able to hold onto what I want for the first letter of the variable definition:
Variable Name: Animal / Variable Definition: Puppy
Variable Name: animal lc / Variable Definition: puppy
Variable Name: Animals uc pl / Variable Definition: Puppies
Variable Name: animals lc pl / Variable Definition: puppies
