Image in the Page Layout for PDF
Image in the Page Layout for PDF
Is there a way to resize the image in the Page Layout? I need to cover the front page of the PDF with Company branded image. I inserted an image frame in the title page. I think that the only way to insert the image in the image frame is by inserting it as a background image but you can't resize the background image.
Can anyone please suggest the best way to do it?
Thanks

We've done this using the background image. However, I'm not sure why you need to resize it -- could you explain?Mohinda wrote:Is there a way to resize the image in the Page Layout? Re: Image in the Page Layout for PDF
I want the image to fill the whole first page without any margin. I can't do it.

Re: Image in the Page Layout for PDF
I've had trouble with the same thing. We ended up settling for a very small border (despite not having any assigned in the page layout) because our image was such that it wasn't a big problem, and I didn't have time to try to track down exactly what (if anything) we'd done wrong.
Basically, our approach was to make the graphic the correct size for the page, in terms of pixels, were the resolution was 96DPI (which is what Flare assumes your image is).

Re: Image in the Page Layout for PDF
Thanks for your suggestion.
I inserted a new image frame in the title page and resized it so that it fills the entire page. When I create the PDF using this Page Layout, the title page and second page are identical i.e., same image on both pages.
In the TOC properties for the first entry, I have selected the Chapter Break; Configure the Page layout using as Firstpage and selected the page type as Title page. The Auto end on left page is selected as Disabled.
I want the second page to be an empty page. In my Page Layout, I have Title, Right, Left and Empty pages. Each new Chapter starts on the right page. Rest of the PDF is fine except the first two pages.
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Image in the Page Layout for PDF
I think you need to set the auto-end on left to enabled for that first entry. On the second entry, set it to be a new chapter and specify that it start on the right page instead of the first or title page.
Also, if you're going to use that page layout for the entire project, I'd set the title page as both type Title and name Title. That way it should be used only once in the output. First page, on the other hand, could be used as the first page of every chapter, if you wanted.

Thanks for your suggestion, Lisa.
Now I have:
Title page
Empty page
Right hand page (which is empty)
Empty Page
Right Page (Copyright page)
I am not sure why I am getting the first right page empty. I want Copyright to be there as the first right page after the title page.

Re: Image in the Page Layout for PDF
I take it you mean that's what you get in the output, not the page types you have in the page layout.Mohinda wrote:Now I have:

What you should have in your page layout are page types Title, Left, Right, and Empty. In your TOC, you set the title topic to start a new chapter and set the page type as Title and set auto-end on Left to enabled. This is based on your first post where you said you wanted there to be a blank page after the title page. On the copyright topic in the TOC, set it to start a new chapter but set its page type to Right. When you build the output, you should get the title page, a blank page, the copyright page, then the rest of your topics.

Re: Image in the Page Layout for PDF
Yes, this is what I get in the output (pdf).
I have done exactly what you have explained.
I just noticed that the topic that I am linking to the title page, it has four pages when I preview it in the XML editor. I am not sure how I got four pages. I created it as a topic to be used as first page of the manual. I am confused.

Re: Image in the Page Layout for PDF
Check to make sure you don't have page-break-after:always or page-break-before:always on any of the content in your topic, and that the body frame in the title page of your page layout is large enough to hold all of the content.
