Madcap uploading unchanged articles
I got a webhelp project thats published on a external server. For several months i could publish and just the files that changed were uploaded. But since last week (i created another destination for our mobilehelp output - don't know if thats an coincidence) every time i publish it, EVERY article is uploaded. This is pretty annoying, since it takes a very long time. I selected the right target, and "Upload Changes Only" is also checked. Any ideas?

Has anything else changed?
And is it possible that your topics do actually change on every build?
For example, say you add a date stamp to your master page that's used for all your topics, that'd mean every topic would be updated on each build.
I think the Flare looks at the catapult.log.zip file in the publish destination to check the previously published files, so if that file is missing/deleted then it'll probably upload all of the files.

There are no timestamps. It's normal behaviour that all (even there are no changes) articles are generated in the build process?!

Re: Madcap uploading unchanged articles
I just tested two things:
I ran the whole publishing. After it finished, i republished again and it didn't upload anything, and was finished after a few seconds. Then i got to my contentfolder, changed 1 line in 1 artcile, built again (every article was generated) - now it uploads everything again with publishing...

If it was working before, and nothing has changed with your project or server; then I've no more ideas.

Re: Madcap uploading unchanged articles
The only thing that comes to mind is dynamically generated content that gets inserted at build time. When looking at a topic it looks the same as before, but for a dumb computer it is different. Just guessing...

A patch is available that fixes this issue for Flare v7.1. It did the trick for me.

MadCap did a good job of promptly fixing this issue. After issuing the the standalone patch for v7.1, they included a fix for this issue in the v7.2 update.gus1980_99 wrote:A patch is available that fixes this issue for Flare v7.1. It did the trick for me.
