TOC entry selection box color
TOC entry selection box color
Does anyone know how to change the box color that displays when you select a TOC entry? Is this a Flare setting or an IE setting?
The selected entry is a light gray box in my WebHelp window. I would prefer to match the color to the frame background.
Thanks!

Re: TOC entry selection box color
You have to modify the JavaScript code in one of the generated files, then every time you build (or just before you're about to release to your users) you have to copy your modified JS file into the output folder to overwrite the file created at build time. This KB article explains more --> http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/default_CSH.htm#OUTW1018F.
If you want to be able to specify that attribute without having to modify the JS code, then submit a feature request at http://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx asking for the ability to modify the attribute in the skin.

Thanks for your reply. I'll submit a request.
In the meantime, I'm receiving an "Access is Denied" error when I try to save the file. Is there a workaround?

You shouldn't be getting that error, unless maybe you have the help output open in a browser when you try to save the file.

Unfortunately, I am still receiving the error when everything is closed. Can the read-only property cause this error?
This is the location of the folder on my local: C:\Program Files (x86)\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V7\Flare.app\Resources\WebHelp\Content\SkinSupport.

Re: TOC entry selection box color
Okay, I discovered that it was due to a lack of permissions. I am able to save, but I'm not seeing the new color in the Help.
I updated the MadCapAll.js and MadCapToc.js files.
I don't see the MadCapToc.js file in the Output folder. However, I do see the MadCapAll.js file.
Where is the MadCapToc.js file located in the Output folder?
Thanks!

Re: TOC entry selection box color
You won't see that file if you have the option to condense the JS files selected in the skin or target -- can't remember where the option is. If you have that option enabled, you'll have to modify the MadCapAll.js file instead. They did mention that in the KB article -- it's in the second tip paragraph. The option to condense the files might be the default option now -- I don't remember having to set that option the last time I created a project.wisefolly wrote:Where is the MadCapToc.js file located in the Output folder?

Thanks LTinker! I appreciate the many follow-up posts.
The condense option is under Performance in the WebHelp target. It is selected by default.

Re: TOC entry selection box color
Another Flare update released (7.1) and still no way to change the TOC entry color the way you can for the Index entry. (and yes, I submitted a feature request about a year or two ago).
C'mon Flare guys...can you please push this one up on the priority list? Every time I update the software, I have to send another fixed copy of the .js file to my Release Engineer on the build machine. It's tedious.

Re: TOC entry selection box color
I'm guessing there is no way to change this in 7.2 as well?
