Flare 7.0.1 very slow, and freezes?

I'm trying to see if anyone else may have had this issue, or if it's just on my system.

What happens is that all the "tools" (the Content Explorer, Project Organizer, Pending Check-Ins, etc) "refresh" at an abysmal rate, and sometimes Flare even freezes completely for a few moments. It's become so bad that at this moment I'm actually opening XML files with notepad++ to edit files.

Flare isn't taking much power either, so this isn't a memory leak - I get about 120 megs of RAM used and CPU utilization never goes over 15. This is very odd.

I'm on 7.0.1, this didn't happen on 7.0 or 6... Windows XP SP3.

I'll open a support ticket once I see if anyone else has this issue.

Occasionally, I get freezes for a few moments (especially with my huge project), but mostly, it's fairly smooth. However, sometimes issues with the hard drive (slow hard drive, virus scanner, etc.) can cause freezes, since Flare makes relatively intense use of the hard drive. Also, if your project is on a network, network performance can cause a lot of problems.

I have moments when using this version of Flare where I get a freeze or longer than normal pause ... however my projects are on the network. Andrew has confirmed what I thought was happening.

I believe this may happen for me in a specific situation: When I am with my laptop at home, on VPN connected to work. In that situation it's really slow... Otherwise, when I'm at work or not on the VPN, it works great.

Seems like something is being done on the network every time it displays a folder, which is extremely odd.

Unless it changed in v7, you used to be able to turn off Analyzer or some of its features. You might want to do that on your laptop for when you're going through a VPN connection. It might be that Analyzer is trying to do its scan and it clogs up the VPN tunnel, so to speak.

Thanks Lisa, I'll try that.
