Instead of the baked-in accordion labels, I have created some background images instead, with stylized text replacing the standard copy ('TOC', 'Favorites', 'Search', etc.) by using the BackgroundImage/BackgroundImageHover properties of the AccordionItem>TOC (and Search, Index, etc.) style of the Styles tab in the corresponding Skin.
I would like to prevent the default text from being displayed (as shown in the AccordionItem>Styles>TOC>General>Label), but Flare is not allowing me (see screenshot below). It will only allow me to replace the text, but not remove it; essentially, the field cannot be null. However, the desired results are displayed when I preview the WebHelp output.
I delete the text, publish the target, but the text still displays. I return to the Skin, delete the text, re-publish, still there. I tried entering an empty space or two, yet it returns. I tried Alt+32 (ASCII space), same issue.
It's a catch-22: Flare allows me to put in a background image, yet it won't allow me to remove the default text, only replace. To make matters worse, the background image is placed behind the text, not in front of it. I could make the colors match, but that's an unacceptable solution as it will affect the image's design.
Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Blank AccordionItem Labels
Anyone? Bueller?
I removed the AccordionTitle text from the output by editing the Stylesheet.js and Stylesheet.xml files, and replacing the text with Alt+32 (space). However, the TOC fails to load in IE, although it works fine in Safari/Chrome. In IE, the text/space is replaced by 'null', appropriately enough.

Re: Blank AccordionItem Labels
Could you right-align the text, enter a single letter (like i), and set the text color to whatever color you used as your image's background?

Re: Blank AccordionItem Labels
I don't know if it matters, but the appropriate space character is ALT + 0160, which results in in the code.

Yes, that worked in IE! I also tried using the &nbps;, to no avail.LTinker68 wrote:I don't know if it matters, but the appropriate space character is ALT + 0160, which results in in the code.

It would actually be but that might have just been a typo on your part.

Re: Blank AccordionItem Labels
That works, but with one caveat: The has to be handcoded in the output by editing the Stylesheet.js and Stylesheet.xml files. Placing the code in the Label field (Skin>Styles>AccordionItem>TOC>General>Label) pre-compile does not work.LTinker68 wrote:I don't know if it matters, but the appropriate space character is ALT + 0160, which results in in the code.

Ignore the comma. I should have used the Code font to show that I usedLTinker68 wrote:It would actually be but that might have just been a typo on your part.
Code: Select all

,Anyway, all is well for now. I just have to edit the the JS and XML files by hand after output. From what I've read, XML does not like whitespace, which may explain the issues.
Re: Blank AccordionItem Labels
I finally broke down and submitted a bug report. Tired of the hand editing after each and every output.
