Preview vs. output differences?

Post by paul55 »

Hi,

Is there a list anywhere of the differences between Preview output and actual built output, at least for PDF and HTML Help targets? For example, I just ran into this issue:

http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... 75&t=12730
The preview will not show the correct xref text (just the same placeholder text as the editor), but it will be correct in the output.
I spent a little while chasing my tail on this one, until I realized the Preview window wasn't showing the actual cross-reference text that would appear in the output.

I've run into other issues like this in the past (e.g. certain style properties which aren't supported in the preview window?), but I can't remember specifics right now. Just wondering if there is a list of these differences anywhere?

Thanks,

-Paul

This would be a good resource. Thought I might revive this thread.

Well ... I have this for some combinations of nested dropdowns:
1. Wrong indent - in preview too far right
2. Wrong indent - in preview too far left
3. Wrong pseudo-classes for the dropdownhotspot

Strange about this situation: It usually works! It's just in a handful of cases that the programming of Flare does that. I think I traced it down to the last dropdown in the topic: If that contains another dropdown,it goes wrong. Otherwise:
