Are there known issues using variables in Madcap Mimic 5.0? I cannot find anything posted on the Flare knowledgebase or the forums, but I am having a ton of trouble trying to use variables in Mimic.
I can add variables to the variables list on the Properties page (for both projects and single movies), but when I try to enter the text for the definition and the comment fields, the text I enter does not get saved. I can enter the text for these fields on the Properties dialog box and can save the information fine, but when I exit the project or movie and then open it again, all the values I entered in these associated fields are no longer there.
I would love to be able to use the variables already defined in a Flare Help project, but Mimic does not store variable definitions in a separate files as does Flare. They seem to be stored in the project file (or movie file). When I edit these settings in the Mimic project file using notepad, everything seems to be ok, but then when I open the project within Mimic, the values are not displayed. The fields are empty.
I don't get it. There must be a trick to this that I don't understand and cannot find in the product Help. (I have tried everything. Linking a movie to a project where the variables are set, etc. Nothing works.)
Has anyone else out there had issues with using variables in Mimic 5.0?
