Excluding XRef (Cross Reference) from Printed Output

Post by Shannon Frances »

Hi :)

I am trying to use the XRef (Cross Reference) link option within some of my Topics. I need the references to appear in my WebHelp Output and to allow my users to navigate using them. In my Printed Output, however, I would like these references to be completely hidden. I don't want users to see references to pages and so on. On reading the Help included with Flare V7 I understood that this was possible using the Style Sheet. I have tried a few options that seemed logical to me, but so far no matter what, the reference appears and functions correctly in the WebHelp and appears as a working hyperlink in my Word Output.

Any advice on which styles within the stylesheet I should modify and also whether this in fact even an option for my Word Output, would be hugely appreciated

Thanx!!

Not sure if it works in Word or not, but you need to go into the print media of your stylesheet and, for the xref style class you are using, set the display property to "none."

Don't know if it's any use, but you could potentially add a condition to your cross-refs to ONLY show up in the help. Not sure if you could do that in the stylesheet, and it might be a real fag to do, but could be worth investigating. Possibly could do a search and replace on the code to apply it, probably one at a time, and something with the end tags too. Just a thought. (And thoughts are very rare at the moment so make the best of it!) :D
