Style setting panel

Post by Tydalian »

Version 7.0.1 and I checked for updates before writing

I'm certain I am missing a very simple something...but I cannot display an editing panel that I used to use all the time. I've been away from work and Flare for a couple months and returning today, I cannot display/use a style panel that appeared at the bottom of my screen (same space as the message panel). When I would select text in my work space, this panel would adjust to show me the style settings I could apply to the text, such as defined font changes, paragraph realignments, etc. It was extremely handy and it has simply disappeared!

I have gone through the View, Format, and Tools menus— item by item, in hopes that I could find it again. I'm the only one who uses this software, so I never thought I needed to set Layouts. I cannot imagine what happened to that panel! Can anyone help me find/open it again?

Thank you all in advance...Kim

The only two things I can think that would be is the Styles panel (View > Style Window) or the Formatting panel (View > Local Formatting Window). They appear by default in the right-hand panel location, so you may need to move them to the bottom of your screen.

When you install a new major version (e.g., v6, v7, etc.) you get the default layout, so you'd need to recreate the layout for that version. I don't think I've ever checked to see if you could load a layout from a previous version. I have put in a feature request, though, asking for the ability to have layouts in older versions automatically recreated or loaded in the new version when it's installed, especially if you haven't uninstalled the old version from the same computer.

Make sure you submit a feature request at http://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx.
