Child project naming problem

Post by gravenstein »

I have just imported some RoboHelp (webhelp) projects into Flare 7.0.1, and am trying to re-create the previous parent-child relationships. The parent has multiple children. In RoboHelp, all our projects follow the same model and launch from a file named index.htm. Upon conversion, this translated to multiple output files named Default.mcwebhelp. They all live in different output folders, of course.

Now I find that when I try to add more than one child to the parent, Flare objects to multiple children having the same output file name, even though they exist in different folders. When I try to generate the parent output, I get this message: "More than one linked help system is named 'Default.mcwebhelp.' Please rename one of them so the projects can be properly merged."

Do I *really* have to give each child project a unique output filename? Reusing names allows me to share features and do things programmatically that I don't want to have to give up or redesign.

Is there a concept that I'm missing here? I'm a real noob to Flare, so that's entirely likely! :?

Thanks,
G

Yep, it seems like the targets from the merged projects need to have different output file names.

I'd suggest contacting support to confirm this; and if so, put in an enhancement request.

Yes, targets for merged projects need to have different file names.

Thanks, Dave and Andrew. *Sigh.* So much to learn.
