Should .props Files Be Added to SVN?

Post by sashaeskie »

All, should the .props files that accompany Capture screenshots be added to the SVN repository? What are the repercussions if they are not added to SVN? If I had my way I wouldn't add image files to the repository anyway but I am required to do so. Thoughts?

The .props file is what allows non-destructive edits of images. In addition, Flare uses the .props files for things like conditions on images (conditions to exclude images from some outputs, for example). You can exclude them, but the implication is that, if you ever have to recreate the project or images from source control (say if you wanted to propagate to another machine -- either a new machine for yourself or another author), you will not be able to edit the callouts or other effects in Capture; the image becomes "flat" and you will lose any conditions applied to the image files.
