Table Style col width different in Word and PDF

Post by BruceMcNaughton »

I have a TOC setup for printing a portion of a WebHelp project. I am using two PageLayouts ... one is portrait and one is landscape.

In the topics I use 3 TableStyles where columns have % col widths. The table styles all keep the % widths when the target is a PDF.

When the Target is Word, the % widths do not seem to be calculated. They seem to be more dependent upon the amount of text in each of the cells.

Is there a setting I'm missing to keep the Column Widths (in %) set when the Target is Word.

Have you figured anything out? I am having similar issues. I even go to the code and manually set the widths of columns to inch values, but when I build my target, the column widths are never what I set.

Hi,

I have not confirmed yet if this has been fixed in 8.0

I regret to report that the behavior you describe--where column widths defined a a percent of the table width are not respected in the Word output from Flare--is due to a bug in Flare. I have submitted a bug report on your behalf (#46165) with our development team and you will be notified via email if a fix for this is included in a future patch or release version.

The current workaround for this issue is to define the table column widths using an absolute measure (e.g. inches, pixels) rather than a relative measure like percentage.

Please don't hesitate to reply to this email with any further questions related to this issue.
