Hello all
We produce HTML help files with a jump button linking to a CHM (which usually is a tutorial, also in CHM format, that can be found in the same folder as the CHM it is linked from). The Jump button options have been set at target level as we want to specify different URLs (=CHMs) for different help files. The Jump button used to work fine in the past but it seems not to work in Flare 7 (we have version 7.1.0).
Whenever clicking on the Jump button, we get a "This program cannot display the webpage" page.
Has anyone noticed similar problems? How can I solve this?
The url in the Jump URL options is of the type (tutorial.chm::/HTML/Introduction.htm) and looks absolutely fine to me. It has not changed since the linking worked.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Jump button issues
We had a similar problem, but not quite the same:
Our jump button linked to a topic inside the resources folder. The topic contains nothing but an onload javascript and a shortcut control. The js triggers the shortcut control. The shortcut control opens a website in a normal browser window (that's the reason for the complicated process).
This didn't work anymore with Flare 7. It worked again after I moved the topic into the Content folder ...

Re: Jump button issues
Thanks for your post, Inge. It is useful to know that other people have been experiencing issues with this, even if not exactly the same as me.
I have investigated a bit more and have discovered that if we link the jump button to a topic inside the same help file (I have chosen a topic inside the Content folder) or a website, it works fine. The problem is when we link to a topic inside another chm. I wonder if this is a bug. I am tempted to raise this as a bug or ticket with MadCap Software.

Re: Jump button issues
It works !! - This is the content of the file that you jump to:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<html xmlns:MadCap="http://www.madcapsoftware.com/Schemas/MadCap.xsd">
<head><title></title>
</head>
<script type="text/javascript">
window.onload = redirect;
function redirect() {
dummy.Click();
history.back(); }
</script>
<body>
<p>
<object id="dummy" classid="clsid:ADB880A6-D8FF-11CF-9377-00AA003B7A11" type="application/x-oleobject">
<param name="Command" value="Shortcut" />
<param name="Item1" value=",hh.exe,tutorial.chm::/HTML/Introduction.htm" />
</object>
</p>
</body>

Re: Jump button issues
Hmmm, definitely not working for me
. Is the excerpt above the source code of the file I link to (that has been accessed once the Jump button is clicked on the parent CHM)? I cannot even get it to work on the sample project. I need to have a look at this...
Thanks for your help!

Re: Jump button issues
Try leaving out the path: tutorial.chm and make /HTML/introduction the start page of the help.

Re: Jump button issues
Hi again
Thanks for your help but I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. I need to have the CHM name before the topic name as I am linking from a CHM to a topic in another CHM.
I have contacted MadCap Software and they can replicate the issue so this could be a bug introduced in Flare 7 as it was definitely working in Flare 6. I am awaiting to hear from them as to the existence of a possible workaround.
