I have some photographs of circuit boards, which I've dropped into Illustrator as pngs, and labelled using vector arrows & text etc.
I'm trying to get good resolution into Flare PDF output. Currently I'm exporting pngs from Illustrator, but to get good resolution (300dpi), the file sizes are huge.
Ideally I'd like to use EPS, so the vector components render perfectly in the PDF, but the EPS files are even more huge, because of the raster components (the pngs of the circuit boards).
Has anyone had any success with this sort of thing in the past, and if so, which format/s did you end up using?
cheers

File formats for vector/raster images in PDF
Re: File formats for vector/raster images in PDF
If, and that's a big if, your drawing is a true vector and not a mix of vectors and bitmaps, then try using Illustrator's SVG output. Flare 7 will handle SVG images and produce a PDF using that vector format without issues. It may look odd inside Flare's editing window, but it will render properly.
