Screencapture standards (help?)

Hi guys

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions as to the following:

What standards should I set for screen captures for use in both pdf and web output?

E.g. .png? .jpg?

Any particular resolution?

Anything else I should think about?

FWIW, I use .pngs and get nice results in both Help systems and PDF.
