I have a requirement:
Convert a Word document that is 90% tables
AND
reproduce certain content (in the last row from each table) on a separate page in the output.
My first thought was to get rid of those horrible tables - BUT obviously TABs (MS Word tabs that is) don't work in HTML - you have to replace them with padding (but I am not too sure how to do this with very complicated table style layouts)
To get the info from one page appearing on another I can use the 'List-of Proxy' but that really gets messy when using content from tables.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Tables or Padding?
I would copy/paste the tables from the Word doc to Flare, and paste them as tables (using the little paste icon that displays at the bottom of the pasted content to select Insert as Table). For your other request, i don't think there's a way to automatically do this in Flare. You may be able to make some sort of macro or table in Excel that would automatically make a new table from existing content, but you'd still have to copy/paste it into Flare.
Tables vs. padding? In my opinion, it depends on if your content is actually a table, or if you were just using the table format to apply spacing/rows/lines/etc. I use tables when i'm making a table, but not for formatting entire pages of content. Divs and CSS are the more modern way to format pages.

Thanks for your reply
The tables import very well through the usual import process (and as there are over 500 pages I am lucky it does!)
The 'list-of proxy' does an excellent job of making specially selected (formatted in a certain way) text appear on a separate page (just like proxy TOC or list of images) BUT... not from a table
The Word doc uses tables purely to format - and it has done it's job - makes good use of page space. But Div and CSS is not going to be fun when wanting colums 4 wide then 3 then 4 again.
I think I will just separate the text I want to list elsewhere, and put it outside the table
Love the web site btw
