Keep Master TOC displayed?

I have only one TOC in my current help file. I click open Master TOC. No matter what I try: pinning it to the left or right, floating it on another monitor or hiding it... as soon as a double-click a topic, the TOC closes. I have tried locking my workspace and a few other things.

Holding Ctrl as I double-click a topic does not open a topic, but simply double-clicking it opens the topic. But, the topic opens and the Master TOC closes simultaneously.

Do any of you master users know a secret that would allow me to keep the Master TOC open even after a topic opens? If so, I would REALLY appreciate you sharing that information with me.

i have never heard of this type of problem before. does it happen if you create another TOC and make that the primary TOC? maybe there is something corrupt in your TOC. you'll probably have to work directly with MadCap Support to see if your TOC is corrupt (or just make a new TOC if that works).

Just to ensure we are working with a clean slate, try resetting your Flare Layout by going to Window > Layouts > Reset Window Layout.

Open your TOC and make it floating. Drag the floating TOC to the left and drop the toc on the target symbol. It should now be docked in the left hand navigation.

Right click on an item in the TOC and choose "Open Link."

Did the TOC close out of the left hand navigation?

Yes, it closes this way, too. :-(

Got it! For anyone who is interested or who may have this issue stemming from an imported project -- there were two copies of a particular topic in the File list (with separate names). Only one was in the table of contents. Once I marked one as not searchable and not for print or web, the TOC stays open as it should.
