Enabling the Search feature

Post by bmcclintock »

I am having an issue with enabling the Search feature. I'm using Flare v6, compiling HTML Help.

I have selected the Search check box on the General tab of the skin and the Show Advanced Search on the HTML Help Setup tab. The skin is associated with the target.

I've tried compiling twice and when I try to use Search, I get an error that says No Topics found.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Barb

RAMON, THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH. Yes, that was it! I would have never found that without ya. Again THANKS!

Now in trying to troubleshoot the issue myself, I am now getting an error during compilation. It says that it cannot open a particular file and compilation stops until I click OK in the message box. It does give me a path to the Output folder, but this filename is not there. Can you help me remedy this???

One thing I did while troubleshooting was create a new skin based on the (default) skin. That seems to be when this error started occurring.

Can you perform your magic again?

Thanks,

Barb

Try deleting the output folder and rebuilding.

Thanks Lisa - I think I may have tried to delete the wrong Output folder. I deleted the Output folder from the project file. When I tried recompiling, I got a message that it couldn't find the file. From where do I want to delete this folder? Sorry, I'm sure this is fundamental, but I'm having senior moments today!

Thanks,

Do I need to close out of my project first?

OK - I closed out of my project and deleted the Output folder. Started my project back up and recompiled. I still get the same error: Cannot open the file "c:\Users\bmcclintock\Desktop\CFM HTML Help|bmcclintock\Temporary\MYHtmlHelp\Content\KUP_WIN_Level m".

Compiling appears to stop each time at this point: Data\SkinCFM Help\RefreshTopicComments_over.gif

There was also an error at one point about the GlobalImportedFilesSet v.1.xml file. IE had blocked it, but I think I fixed that by allowing blocked content.

Any ideas of what to try next?

Thanks,

Barb

The easiest way to see if that image file is the problem is to remove its associated icon from the toolbar in the skin then rebuild. Or if you supplied your own image file for that icon, then set the skin back to the default image and rebuild. If it gets past that point then you know the problem is with the image file. If it still stops at that point, then I'd probably create a new skin file, do nothing to it (i.e., leave it with the default settings), associate that new skin with the target, then build. If it gets all the way through, then it would imply that the skin file is corrupted.

I think the issue is resolved. I had added a company logo to the About box. I opened the skin via the Internal Tex editor and deleted the About box entry. Then recompiled and it passed through without any errors.

Thank you SO much for all your help. You guys are the best!
