Pagelayout indent issue

Post by ashishgarje »

I am using three different page layouts in Flare V.7 for odd, even and cover page and my target is PDF. When I generate the PDF, I observe that my Even page layout is indented less from the left margin of the page, and Odd page is more indented from the left margin. I want both my page layouts' indention to be same. Please let me know how to achieve this, if possible.

Do the left and right pagelayouts look the same in the editor? maybe there is a slight difference there in how you set up the layouts.

In one page layout I have a header for my company logo with the document name and the other page layout has a header for chapter title.Could you please elaborate or provide the procedural steps how to do it.

are you talking about the margins/padding for the header frame? it could be that your logo/image is pushing it over or there is white space around your logo that makes it look like the margin is different.

or, are you talking about the margins/padding for the body frame?

I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly, when you use the Flare defaults for Right and Left pages (meaning if you create the Page Layout using one of Flare's templates with Right/Left pages, like ChapterLetter.flpgl), they are configured this way by default. It is intended for situations when you are literally printing and binding the documents, so that the "inside" margins are greater to accommodate the binding. If you flip between the two pages in your page layout, you should be able to see this margin difference.

If this is the case, to fix it you would need to adjust the placement of the header, body frame, and footer on each page so that the margin is the same on each page. I can't provide specific instruction to do this because for whatever reason I find this interface really unintuitive to work with, and the only way I get there is through various trial and error.

Another option is to not even try to fix it, and instead start with a "normal" page (like when using Flare's Default.flpgl). Then make a copy of that page. Convert one of the pages to page type Left, and the other to page type Right. Then set up each page as you want it (it sounds like you just want them to have different headers/footers, but the same margin).

Anyway, if that's not your problem, then ignore all this. :)

Thanks, Hunter. I will try using the second option, which I feel to be achievable.
