Left Aligning Styles imported from Word

Post by writer9 »

Hi,

I'm having trouble aligning the Heading1 and Lists (Numbers and Bullets) to the left; that is, left margin=0. Heading 2 and other heading levels are aligned to the left, but I can't do the same with Heading1.

I imported the Word document into Flare and retained the styles (did not map it to new styles).

I tried using the Style Guide to align it to the left, but it has no effect when I set the left margin to 0.

I'd appreciate any help I can get to fix this error.

Thanks,
Rekha.

do you have anything for left padding?
and make sure you are editing the correct style (since it may be called something else if you imported and kept original styles) and in the correct medium.

Thanks for the reply, Laura.

I figured out the problem.

The H1 is embedded within a /div tag, which in turn is embedded within /blockquote (see image). The other tags don't have the /div or /blockquote. To get rid of this, I created a separate tag in the next line and applied H1 to it and it worked!

Thanks much for your tips!

It is not uncommon for Word to add extra tags to text, as you saw in your import. that is why we suggest cleaning up word docs before importing too.
