search.js for generated skin

Post by pe_thiemann »

Hi there,
Flare version 7 generates a new javascript file in the data folder of the webhelp output: search.js. It seams to contain equal information as the search.xml file in the same folder. But the information in search.js file is contained in one single line, which is too long to be accepted by a source control system.
So i chunked the search and similar .js and .xml chunk files were generated. I also deleted the search.js file in the webhelp output and the search in the help worked properly.
My question now: does someone know something about search.js and how it is used? Is it necessary or does it exist out of compitibility or other reasons?
Thanks a lot
Regards,

If I recall correctly, this file is needed to make WebHelp work right in Chrome.

Thank you David. So if Chrome is not a supported browser of the webhelp, can i delete the .js file in the data folder of the generated webhelp?
Does it have any influence on the Chrome compatibility if i insert line breaks in the search.js files?
Regards,

That I don't know...but with Chrome installed on some test system that should be easy enough to find out.
