I am creating a header frame on a page layout that I want to have expand the width of the printed page (ignoring the typical left and right margins you have on a printed page) so that the frame with extends the full 8.5 inches of the page. I want the frame to have a solid background color.
In Flare, on my page layout, I select the frame and drag the corners so that it is the desired height/width. I then double-click the frame to bring up the frame properties and select a background color for the frame.
In Flare, the frame and page layout look just like I want them to. However, when I generate the Word output, there is no colored header on the top of the page.
The only thing I seem to be able to do in order to get color in the Word output is to create a paragraph and associate a style to the paragraph that has a background color.
Unfortunately, this method does not give me the look I want of a shaded header at the top of the page about a half inch high, extending the full width of the printed page in my Word output.
Is there an issue with colored frames in the header when going to MSWord that anyone knows of..?

I'm experiencing the same problem. I can generate to PDF with no problems. Were you able to resolve this problem for your Word outputs?

No. It still doesn't work. No matter what I try.

Re: Page layout header frame not working in MSWord
It could just be that Word doesn't support the background color in header frames, especially since Word doesn't support image or decoration frames.

Yah, I couldn't get images in the page layout header frames to come across into Word output either.
Re: Page layout header frame not working in MSWord
Hi,
I've discovered that the problem (at least in part) has to do with the fact that Word output cannot support different widths for the header, body and footer frames. The body frame width wins! When I make the frames all the same width - wide enough for my image within the header - it all works fine. This means, however, that I have to change my Word styles so that headings and paragraphs are indented the amount that I want (both left and right), rather than using the body frame to do this in the page layout.
Support tell me they are aware of this issue, have logged it as a bug and are working to fix it.
Hope this helps,
K
