Auto-number in WebHelp Output

Post by MEndres »

Is it possible to use auto-number between topics in WebHelp?

When I output to Word, the Auto-number works correctly between topics.
That is, the <h1>'s in my Word output appear as follows:
Section 1: Topic something
Section 2: Topic something else
However, when I output to WebHelp it changes to:
Section 0: Topic something
Section 0: Topic something else

Is there anyway to maintain the auto-numbering?

does this help? http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare ... anchor2679
i don't use auto-numbering, but it could be something about the formatting of the style.

What is the autonumber format you're using?
Have you used a global series (GH:) or global counter (Gn) ?

Genius. I was using {secnum} and {n} to no avail, but trying {gn} it works swimmingly.

Would it be possible to add all possible counter values to the WebHelp?

I avoid Flare's stylesheet editor as much as possible because it always reverts my stylesheet to the default Style.css that comes when you first install Flare.

Cheers to both of you for the help!

Not sure what you're asking. Are you saying you want to be able to use chapnum and secnum or whatever in the WebHelp output? Or are you looking for a reference in the Flare help itself?

Sorry for the lack of clarity: yes, I would like to see a full reference of possible commands in the WebHelp.

Thank you :-)

Huh? So, you edit the stylesheet elsewhere? I've never had this problem (and I go back-and-forth between Flare's editor and an external text editor). However, make sure you set the project stylesheet preferences. I also delete the generic one once I start a project if one exists.
