MadCap drop-downs, expanded by default?

Is it possible to set the MadCap drop-downs to be expanded by default? Is it possible to set just one drop-down to be expanded and the others not?

Not a built-in option, no. Make sure you submit a feature request for it (http://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx).
