Flare 8 EPUB Multimedia formats

What multimedia formats does Flare 8 support? We've tried to add SWF and AVI files to the output, but Flare says they are unsupported.

From what a quick web search shows, the only (?) supported format is MPEG4, but given that ebooks are to be displayed on a variety of devices I wouldn't count on having that support available.

I'm not asking about the individual reader support, I'm asking what formats FLARE supports as input. The About EPUB Output Help topic says that movies are supported, but it depends on the reader.
I have tried AVI, MOV, FLV, SWF, MP4... and the compiler says the formats are unsupported. Is there a setting in Flare 8 to set the reader?
