Broken search result links in merged HTML5 output

Post by KeithM »

A couple of weeks ago, I went through the process of converting my company's internal KB to HTML5 to show off the new search result format. I don't recall having any issues with the search results links at that time, or changing anything obvious that could be attributed to this, but now they're all broken.

This is a merged sytem running on a network drive with Mark of the Web enabled for each of the projects in the Subsystems folder. The links to the search results topics in these subsystems look like this:

file:///[drive]:/[path]/Index.htm#../Subsystems/[path]/[topic].htm

If you remove the ../ after Index.htm#, then the link works.

I'm in the process of submitting it as a bug, but I thought I'd see if anyone else had seen this.

Thanks

Here's what I submitted as a bug report, based on initial results in testing a merged HTML5 output:

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
In addition to these HTML5 issues already reported in the forum:

* No highlights in the topics displayed from search results
* No TOC synchronization

We've encountered these issues in Merged HTML5:

* Access to child projects from the Index only
* No access to child projects from TOC (no closed book icon - click the project book title and all you get is the book opening icon)
* No access to child projects from Search
* Inconsistent context (abstract) display in search results page
6 topics have context out of 236 results
1 topic context displays H1, P, H2, and P text
1 topic context displays H1 and P text comprising almost 5 lines
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

They've acknowledged that the first two items are known issues that they're working on, and I've sent them three topics as examples of the Abstract anomalies.

Hardly ready for prime time, eh?

Good luck,
Leon

Workaround from MadCap support:

1. In the child projects on the target's Advanced tab, disable "Do not use "Content" folder in output" and republish.

2. Republish the parent project.
