Hi,
I'm having a strange issues when importing DITA topics in Flare 6. After the import and I open my Flare project, I see that the DITA abstract element hasn't been imported, but everything else has. I get the same issue with the trial version of Flare 8. Can anyone help me figure out what I might be doing wrong.
Thanks!
DITA abstract element not being imported
Re: DITA abstract element not being imported
So I took a look at this and you're right. However, I'm not really sure what Madcap has is the wrong behavior either.
According to the DITA spec,
is placed between the title and the body, and used when the initial paragraph of a topic isn't suitable for a link preview. This means, that when imported It isn't suppose to go in the main body of the text. According to the import editor, Madcap has set the
attribute to be a div tag called abstract. However, like you, I don't see that element being used. I tried this in both Flare 7 and Flare 8 and had the same results. I think you're going to have to open a bug up on this. For now, you might try changing
in your DITA topics to <shortdesc> which last time I used them did work in Flare.

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for confirming my issue. I too also noticed that changing abstract to shortdesc works.
