I'm trying to change the book icons in the TOC of my HTML5 output. I've changed the TocEntry settings on the Styles tab of the skin (I've tried selecting none and a new icon), but the output always shows books. What am I missing?
Thanks.

Re: Cannot get rid of book icons in HTML5 output
Hi Breyni,
I don't think you can change the look of the HTML5 TOC. In Flare's help, there are two sorts of skins discussed: Standard skins and HMTL5 skins. There is an HTML Help setup option on standard skins that is missing from the HTML5 skin.
Take a look at the HTML5 skin > Styles >Navigation Panel TOC. The icons are listed there. You could probably choose the folder icons from the standard skin. I haven't tried it, so if you do, please report back, okay? Share the knowledge!

Re: Cannot get rid of book icons in HTML5 output
I've filed this as a bug with Flare because from what I found, if you use the default Flare icon names for the TocEntry icons, it works. But If you want to use different icon names, you have to set it in Navigation Panel > TOC > Icons, or it will default back to the Flare built-in icons.

Thank you very much for your help. Changing the icon in the Navigation Panel works.
The Flare help is not very clear on this - at least I couldn't find the solution there.
Thanks again.

Re: Cannot get rid of book icons in HTML5 output
No problem! I agree that the help is confusing on this one point. Also, the TocEntry GUI example leads the user to believe that modifying these icons will control how the icons appear when the output is generated. If you modify these icons, the preview displays the icons you pointed to, but the generated output defaults to the Flare icons (when the icon doesn't use the default Flare icon name).
Actually, after looking back on the email thread, Tech Support said they'd file this as an enhancement request and stated, "Since HTML5 is not exactly the same as the Default skin, this is as designed for the HTML5 skin." I disagreed and requested that it should instead be filed as a bug, but never got confirmation that it was. I also let them know that other users on the forum found this to be confusing.
It probably couldn't hurt for you to file a bug as well?

I reported this issue to MadCap support.
Re: Cannot get rid of book icons in HTML5 output
Strange - I haven't encountered this problem. I replaced the entries in Skins > HTML5 > TocEntry to custom icons, and the output was as I wanted. Breyni, did you replace all the icons with your own? I.e.
OpenBookIcon
ClosedBookIcon
TopicIcon
MarkAsNewIcon
Incidentally, did you know you can create multiple classes of TOC icons? This enables you to customise the icons for individual topics. For example, if you want a non-standard icon for a particular TOC entry (perhaps the favicon for a link to your company's Web site), you can create a TOC class called CompanyLink, and apply it to the individual TOC entry. (This functionality is not AT ALL evident from the Flare UI: you have to read the Help even to know it's possible
)
Here's how you create TOC classes:
1. In Skins > HTML5 > Styles, right-click TocEntry and select Add Class.
2. In the dialog box, type the new TOC class name. The new class appears as a child of the TocEntry style.
3. Add images for the 4 icon types.
To apply a TOC class to a TOC entry:
1. Open the TOC (TOCs > [TOC name]).
2. Double-click the entry for which you want to use the custom icon.
3. In the Style Class field, select the new style class.

Re: Cannot get rid of book icons in HTML5 output
Thank you FrankyT for a good answer.
Yes, I replaces all the icons with my own in Skins > HTML5 > TocEntry but the output always showed the default book icons.
I took a quick glance at how to create TOC classes. The Add Class option is disabled so I cannot do anything! I need to take a better look at why that might be.

Re: Cannot get rid of book icons in HTML5 output
This post is old, but I'm posting an answer in case anyone out there is still having this problem.
The HTML5 skin doesn't use the TOC icons shown in the TocEntry style (even though it looks like it does). The icons are actually set under Styles > Navigation Panel > TOC. You'll notice a property group called Icons is listed there ... those are the icons you need to change.
