Contributor as SharePoint Editor?

Have you or has anyone used Contributor as a SharePoint Editor successfully? We are very unhapy with the SharePoint HTML default editor and we are looking for an alternative. Using the SharePoint Explorer it seems like we should be able to open the site pages created initially by SharePoint and edit them in Contributor or using Contribution Templates create the HTML pages via Contributor and just use them in the SharePoint system.

If anyone has done this, we would appreciate any advice you could offer.
